October 23, 2020 Update

Hello Cross Culture family,

We want to thank you for your generosity to help Oksana and her family with her medical expenses. We have sent $4,250 to help this wonderful family. They are so grateful for your love and generosity. I want to pass on their word of thanks: “Thank you and abundant blessings to everyone who did not pass by and extended a helping hand. We have a big family with the Lord. ‘Nothing is impossible with God!’ Amen.” Regrettably, the doctors in Moscow told Oksana that the treatment was not working and that there is nothing more they can do for her. They have returned home to Gorlovka. We are praying for God’s direct intervention. We ask you to pray for her as well.

COVID-19 is spreading rapidly in Ukraine. Today there were 7,517 new cases and over 100 deaths. This is a sharp increase since the beginning of September when school started in Ukraine. The government is trying to navigate the difficult line between slowing the spread of the virus without shutting down the economy again. Schools closed again on October 15 and all university classes are now online. Public meetings are limited to 20 people currently. Please keep Ukraine in mind as you pray for the COVID pandemic worldwide.

We continue to meet in person with our Young Adult group which meets on Sunday evenings. This meeting is treasured by us all because of the interaction it gives us in the face of a larger quarantine. All our other groups are meeting online. I recently started a class, “Building Strong Relationships” which is attracting both college students and young adults. We are also meeting with family groups and individuals to provide encouragement and support.

While we are all walking through difficult times, we are grateful that God is still drawing people to faith, giving us opportunities to strengthen our spiritual family, and meeting the needs of people who call out to him. We keep reminding our people that it is in the darkest times that the love of Christ shines the brightest.

Thanks for being partners with us in this ministry. We love you all.

Grace and peace,

Kenny and Lora
